I just discovered your blog and loved reading it. The way you describe your school is similar to the conversations that I have with myself – although I am not a head teacher. Have you read An Ethic of Excellence by Ron Berger (see him in action here http://vimeo.com/38247060). I am certain that you have very little time. It is a very small book and you might find it interesting. It offers a very different perspective on achievement than is generally found in education in the UK.
